The smart Doctor looked at her
By ORI
My 8 yr old girl had a period of the whern she suffered severe headache. It was very not charachtaristic of her. I took her to see the family Doctor, with the intention not to get out of his office without a referal to a brain c.t.
The smart Doctor looked at her, and started asking her questions about her best friends and social life at school. Later he preffered me to this book.
I went home and read it and it opened my eyes
I shared it with my wife, and started talking with my daughter, trying to understand more. Aparantly there is a dominant girl in her class, which applies social aggression on all her surrounding. Many other girls were involved but the silence was broken only when more and more parents talked about it. The book was acurate in both the phenomena and how to handle it. This book is an eye opened and a good guide for parents in sla similar situation.

Should be read by every parent of a young girl
By Alice in Wondland
In this fascinating book, author and social critic Rachel Simmons expounds her theories on the social interactions and prevalence of bullying within the culture of pre-teen and teenage girls. The book gives a fascinating analysis into how girls deal with each other, and how aggression is displayed and received. Thoroughly researched and richly embellished with personal stories of bullying and aggression (both by the author and by many others), the book goes a long way towards making female aggression comprehensible.
This was a very thought-provoking and informative book. As an adolescent I saw some of this aggressive activity, and must admit to having found it perplexing. I think that the criticism that Ms. Simmons' work focuses primarily on the "popular" sorts of girls whose social interactions tend to be more aggressive is well founded. However, that said, the aggressive behaviors covered often exist in girls of all sorts.
Another complaint is that the author does too little time in discussing how to deal with aggressive behavior, whether for the group as a whole or for the girl who is the subject of the aggression, and that is a valid complaint. But, that said, this is a very informative and thought-provoking book, one that should be read by every parent of a young girl. I highly recommend it.
