Look into the Lives of Our Most Beloved Celebrities—After Their Deaths
For the first time, beloved psychic Sylvia Browne reveals how cherished stars are using their talents since their deaths. Which celebrity is working on a cure for cancer? Which musical legend has been composing and sharing songs with a young musical prodigy here on earth, unbeknownst to the future performer? And which two stars are eternal soul mates? From longtime regrets to newfound passions, Afterlives of the Rich and Famous includes everything these deceased stars—including Princess Diana, John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, and many more—most want to share.
By channeling her longtime spirit guide, Francine, Browne gained unrestricted access to a dimension most of us can only imagine, one where telepathic communication is the norm and everyone occupies their healthy, thirty-year-old body. Afterlives of the Rich and Famous is a book that no one else could have written, and a must-read for every fan of this extraordinary assembly of celebrities.

I like Sylvia, but this book had me rolling my eyes
By Braden Pickering
Oh boy, where to begin, lol. Well, first of all just let me say that this review is written by a fan of Sylvia's and not some random troll whose life mission is to negate everything she says just for the fun of it. I know she has a fiercely loyal fan base, of which a large percentage may be a little TOO zealous in handing out 5-star reviews if you ask me, but that still doesn't negate the fact this is a fascinating book. It's just that, in comparison to a lot of her other books - which I think even her biggest fans will admit tend to blend together in both content and prose if you read enough of them - this particular one managed to raise a lot more "what ifs" and "yeah, buts" in my mind than ever before.
The book opens with a relatively brief refresher of what exactly the Other Side is, and a nice glossary of terms the reader can expect to encounter along the way, including summaries of all 46 "life themes." All very interesting and easy to grasp, in typical Sylvia fashion. Then we get into the actual chapters on the celebrities, which more or less follow a format of 3-5 pages of bio, career highlights, etc, and another 2-3 on what they're currently up to on the Other Side (assuming they even made it there). Again, all very easy to read, if not a little rushed. What struck me as particularly corny was the fact that this information is relayed to us via Francine, Sylvia's spirit guide, from interviews she has apparently sat down and conducted with the deceased stars. The idea of spirit guides doesn't bother me, because I know from first hand experience how very real they are. It's the fact we're getting supposed direct quotes from these people that comes off as a little suspect. Not that I'm totally declaring "lies!" here but I also can't help but feel Sylvia maybe filled in the blanks herself with assumptions based on common, general knowledge of how these people led their lives on earth. For this same reason I also find it incredible that, despite there being no class system and nobody being better or more prestigious than anyone else on the Other Side, that most of these celebrities still hang out and socialize amongst each other as they did in life and still seem to be viewed as celebrities. Browne mentions a few of these people who had 20, 30, 40 lives, but still seem to maintain the visage and persona of the celebrity we knew them as here on earth. The actors still do plays, the singers still do concerts...what about their interests/professions from other lives? Not to mention, if you did in fact have 40 previous lives, that means you potentially have 40 sets of parents and hundreds of children to reunite with upon returning "Home." The stars she talks of here only seem concerned about their most recent kin; Elvis and his mother Gladys, living together again, for example. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but it all seems to get rather convoluted and I think she's doing her readers a disservice by presenting these anecdotes in an overly simple, happily ever after sort of way that, honestly, I just don't know if I buy.
I want to stress again that I'm not meaning to publicly denounce Sylvia or somehow disprove the existence of the supernatural and/or any possible entity known as God. That's not what this is about. I wouldn't be reading these kinds of books if I didn't believe in those things, or at least have a mind open enough to be intrigued by them. But I'm no sheep either, and as someone who fancies himself to be quite in tune with his sixth sense as well, I can't help but be wary of some of the things Sylvia puts out there as I see and experience more things for myself. But anyway, coming back to this book specifically, it's an entertaining read and fun for what it is, but it also struck me as bordering on tabloid sensationalism which took her credibility down a notch in my eyes. I'm actually attending one of her lectures in a couple weeks, so who knows, maybe she'll expand and elaborate on a few points.
